Memorial Day

For Memorial Day this year we went to the Cemetary.  Grandmother asked our family to take flowers up to the graves of her parents, sister-in-law and brother.  It was a neat experience for our family - we were able to introduce Reese to who she was named after.  I always enjoy taking Emma up there - she is so reverent there and respectful.  She enjoys hearing about her great-great Grandparents and learning about our family.  I love cemetary's on Memorial Day weekend - it's an incredible sight to see so many flowers, balloons, flags and other decorations.

Emmy's 4th Birthday part 2

Emmy's actual birthday was on Monday so we had her family dinner party on Sunday night and then her friend party Monday after school. Then technically we had another family party Monday night. What can I say? We like to party! 

Here's Em after preschool on her birthday.  Her teacher makes them each a hat and gives them a balloon and sunglasses.  She was stylin'!

We had originally told Em that she wasn't getting a friend party this year because she had one for her 3rd birthday. But then she got a baby sister a month before and spent 2 weeks in Texas bored out of her mind so we figured she could probably use a little celebrating and some friend time.  I threw this little party together at the very last minute but she had many fabulous friends who were so wonderful to join us. 

For dinner that night we picked Nana up and went to a pizza place that also has bowling, bumper cars, and many fun things to do.

Emma loves to go bowling.  I'd say this 4th birthday was pretty fabulous!

Happy 4th Birthday Emmy!

      Emmy requested a rainbow theme for her family party.  It was a really fun theme and one I'd love to do again for a friend party.  There were so many fun things that go along with it.  We were lucky enough to have my mom, Grandmother and Grandfather come to her dinner party.  Everything we served was a different color of the rainbow. We had mac and cheese, ham with cherry sauce, carrots, peas, and everyone had different colored 7up.  We also had rainbow jello and rainbow fruit. 

Emmy was so lucky that my mom offered to make her birthday cake for her.  It was gorgeous and tasted fabulous.  It was a lot of work for Nana but well worth it!  It was a pretty fabulous cake to cut into!

She was pretty excited to have her own car.  Made me a little scared for the day she turns 16.  This will be the only birthday she will be receiving a car.  Guaranteed.

Happy 4th Birthday Emmy!  Here are 4 things I LOVE about you:

   1.  Your smile. It lights up a room.

   2.  Your love of the gospel. I've never seen someone so young love learning about the gospel as much as you.  You soak up every word and work so hard to learn about Jesus.

   3.  The love you have for your friends and teachers. You care so much about those around you. You notice when people are having a hard day and you go out of your way to serve them.  

    4.  The love you have for your sister.  You prayed so hard to get her here and you've loved her every minute since she's been part of our family.  You are a wonderful big sister.

Easter 2011

Emma enjoyed waking up to eggs hidden all over the house and outside. The plus to Easter being so late this year was that there was no snow on the ground so the Easter bunny successfully hid eggs and lollipops all over outside.

Reese got her first bunny. She looks excited about it don't you think?

She was even more impressed when I dressed her up like a bunny. Truth be told, she screamed for about 10 minutes after I put this hat on her. She has hated hats from the beginning. She learned quickly though that mommy won't give up and I'll just wait until she's asleep to get the hat back on and take photos.
