Family Night

Tonight for Family Night we learned about Nephi.

Our theme for the month is to be like Nephi and to obey.

We learned how he built a boat.

So we made our own boats.

Then we had boat races in the bath tub to see who could get them to the Promised Land first.

Then we made Banana Boats.

Yummmm!!!!

Fall leaves

We went up into the canyon tonight to take pictures in all the fall leaves. It was gorgeous!

And my personal two favorite pictures:
(don't let her fool you, she had a blast!)

There was a family walking down the mountain while we were taking these pictures that jumped right in and took pictures of Em as well during this pose - they thought she was so funny. A little odd but glad they enjoyed her!

Random September Happenings

We have had a very busy September around here! Tons of fun and plenty to do!
Here are just a few things we've been up to this month:

Our wonderful friends adopted a 2 year old little girl (she's the cute red-head!). We threw her a toddler shower to celebrate.

And who better to invite to a toddler shower but toddlers!

(E and M showing off their muffins!)

All the food was toddler favorites! PB &J's, mac and cheese, mini muffins, little hot dogs, mini pizzas!
Here's our cute new mom and her beautiful daughter! Congrats H family! We are so excited for you!

Here's Em showing off her personality and pizzaz! Things with the dance class got a lot worse so we pulled her out and she'll be taking a toddler gymnastics class. While I'm glad to be done with this teacher and this studio, I'm really sad. I loved seeing my little ballerina each week.

I tried sponge curlers in Em's hair on a saturday night. The only way I could get her to keep them in was to tell her that they make her fancy, like in "Fancy Nancy." It worked and did she ever have some serious curls.

And poof. Cute though. Her hair bounced anytime she walked - matches her bouncy personality.

We had a "P" party for YW's this month to celebrate personal progress. Here are my amazing YW and their leaders. Love them all!

We went up in the canyon with friends for Family Home Evening. Em loves being with her friends!

Having s'mores for the first time! Yummm!

So that kind of summarizes our month so far. Lots of fun and much to do! We also took Em to see her first 3-D movie last weekend. "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs." Very cute movie. Very hard to get your 2 year old to keep huge 3D glasses on. She loved it though, even if it was blurry to her!

Obedience and Cookies

Last night for Family Home Evening we had our lesson on Obedience. It's a word not in most 2 year olds vocabulary! And oh did we need it last night! Most of the time, Em actually obeys fairly well but lately she has started to completely ignore her daddy and I. She knows we're talking but heck if she's going to listen to us!
So for FHE we talked about Nephi building the boat (her all time favorite picture in her little Book of Mormon scripture book) and sang "When my mother calls me, Quickly I'll obey..." We sang it over and over and over.... Then we played Simon Says.
For our activity/treat we made cookie pizzas and decorated them. Em was paying attention during the lesson because while we made cookies together she kept saying how she needed to obey so she could have good cookies. Smart girl! The cookies were yummy and by the end we had much chocolate frosting all over! Em got to be creative, learned how to obey and ate cookies - I'd say it was a successful family night!
